As with all clients, the discussions surrounding simplicity and consistency in individual daily health practices is a norm here at Zenergy Health & Wellness. One of the most basic and powerful practices a person can implement into our days to maintain/improve our deep health is prioritizing him/her self.
A long time client of mine has found her flow over the last while in that regard...
This client runs a successful business and like any small business, that requires alot of time and energy. There have been many discussions over the years working on and off together in regards to practicing making HERSELF a priority in order to improve her overall health and wellbeing.
In recent years, this client has dealt with some health issues/scares that have accumulated stress, worry, fear etc on top of daily stressors and worries. It's alot for anyone to take on. One thing she may not give herself credit for is that she CONTINUES to learn, try and want to change her health for the better. Many of us can relate to that and it's never a failure if you KEEP TRYING and KEEP LEARNING about YOURSELF.
A strength of this client was that she put EVERYONE and EVERYTHING else FIRST (well before herself) - sound familiar? This would then send her into that negative self-talk loop on a regular basis, because once she finally had time for herself she was simply exhausted! Understandably.
Small Changes Lead to Growth
With her health in mind, she continues to create small changes to her daily and weekly routines that promote HER and HER PERSONAL HEALTH. Having been her coach on and off for several years now and getting to know her, it is very evident there has been a shift in mindset in 2024.
What has she done that's so positive you ask?
Must be more exercise right?...
Must be eating more green stuff eh?...
Not quite. She's learned the power of putting herself first. THAT is the BIG change. That's where the progress has come from.
The pandemic stopped our work together for a few years for multiple reasons. She returned back in 2023 for 8-months while working to gain the mental and physical strength of health again. With some health situations to deal with late in 2023, she returned in January of this year to work through the post-rehab process and to work to establish healthy lifestyle practices moving forward.
In just 7-months, the conversations have gone from "I didn't do my ankle exercises at home last week" to...
-Swimming 1-2 times weekly with a friend
-Taking time off to be with her grandson and daughter
-Re-joining a local golf league
-Coming for coaching sessions once per week at the studio
-Participating in my women's health and lifestyle group at the studio with friends
-Discovered a routine (mornings in particular) that she feels good about and is happy with right now
-Going to art and paint nights with friends and rekindling her love for painting
-Practicing delegating to others rather than taking on everything herself
-In general adding more things for HER to her days rather than work-sleep-repeat.
-Learned to lean on the support of friends, colleagues, family etc..
This morning she shared another painting she did recently at a paint night she participated in last week (as usual, it was an awesome painting) and she sent this to me as well:
"I hate to admit you were right. I feel much better when I paint"
Oh the smile that came across my face when I read this!! Not because "I was right" (although, I do enjoy hearing that - It never gets old HAHA!!) but because IT'S CLICKED for this client!! Not only has she found some flow to her days, but she's rediscovered how great it feels when we do things that feed our soul and is making sure those things are in her days/weeks. She's implemented things that create more balance overall. I can see and feel a positive change in her energy every time she comes into the studio.
The Takeaway from this Great Story
I want to point out (as I often do) the lack of "rocket science" involved in what this client has done:
-It's not about how much weight she's lifting in her exercises or how far she's walked, run, biked or swam...
-It's not about how many grams of protein and heads of broccoli she's eaten this week...
-It's not about a fancy program that will impress others...
-It's not about stats, a number on a scale or precise calculations ...
It's about mindset.
Learning to make YOU a priority.
FEELING how the things you enjoy make YOU FEEL.
Patience.
Consistency.
Simplicity.
Finding YOUR balance.
A Disclaimer from my client:
"I certainly couldn’t have arrived at my current healthy (body and mind) place without a lot of support and encouragement from family, friends and most certainly 'Coach D'.
As well as a big dash of some "Lyle Lovin’"
(Lyle is her little grandson).
